Food is tough as it can be expected for a stone age village. At the game start you need to use most villagers to produce food. Make sure to always have extra food for bad times. Bad weather can prevent gatherers from producing food and if by bad luck it continues for a few days your villagers might use all stored food and starve.

You need to make sure you have enough resources that can be used as fuel to keep your villagers from freezing during winter.

When temperature falls below certain level, mainly during winter, your villagers require to heat themselves not to freeze. They will use fuel resources in order described in fuel.
