The quarry can cut stones out of mountains. Each quarry provides only a limited amount of stone - once this is depleted, the quarry can be demolished, converting the mountains into basic land.

Stone is not renewable through Quarry, but is through Gatherers (although slow) and especially Deep mines (reliable: an unlimited amount available if set to stone).
